The thru-hole mounting design threads directly through the existing factory rod in your plastic battery tray, making installation straightforward and clean without permanent modifications to your cart.
The GEN3 battery is built around Grade-A prismatic lithium iron phosphate cells in a 1P16S configuration, housed in a powder-coated steel shell rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. The proprietary Eco Battery BMS (Battery Management System) monitors every cell in real time, handles balancing automatically, and communicates via Bluetooth and CAN protocol with the included CAN charger and LCD gauge.

This bundle is engineered exclusively for the EZGO RXV (2008 and newer) equipped with a factory plastic battery tray. The plastic tray typically houses four 12-volt lead-acid batteries in a square/grouped formation.
How to identify your tray type:
- Plastic tray (this bundle): Cream, tan, or dark-colored plastic tray. Usually holds 4 x 12V batteries arranged in a compact square pattern. Common on RXV models from 2008 onward with the standard 48V system.
- Metal tray (not this bundle): Gray steel tray. Usually holds 6 x 8V batteries in a longer, narrower row arrangement. If you have a metal tray, you need the Eco Battery Skinny bundle instead.
Controller compatibility:
The EZGO RXV uses either a Curtis or Danaher (GE) motor controller depending on the model year. Both are compatible with this battery at the stock voltage level. The 51.2V nominal voltage of this lithium battery operates within the acceptable working range of these controllers. Controller reprogramming is not required for stock configurations.
Regenerative braking:

Installation
The thru-hole mounting system is one of the key reasons this bundle is widely used for EZGO RXV conversions. Instead of requiring a new battery tray or extensive hardware modifications, the battery mounts using a rod that passes through the battery body and threads into the bracket below following the same general principle as your existing lead-acid hold-down system.
General installation overview (for reference only always follow the official Eco Battery installation guide included with your kit):
- Turn the key to OFF and place the cart in TOW mode before beginning any work.
- Disconnect and remove your existing lead-acid batteries. The factory plastic tray typically holds four 12V batteries that are removed individually.
- Install the Eco Battery thru-hole mounting bracket (A-8101) into the existing tray using the included hardware.
- Lower the GEN3 battery into the tray the weight is 98 lbs, so a second person is recommended for safe handling.
- Thread the mounting rod down through the battery and into the bracket below. Secure with the included mounting plate and nut.

The Thru-Hole bundle (this product) is designed for carts with a grouped, square-format battery tray such as the EZGO RXV with the factory plastic tray (4 x 12V). The battery mounts via a rod that passes through the battery body.

Can I use this battery in cold weather or store my cart outdoors in winter?
The battery discharges safely down to -20°F (-29°C), so driving in cold weather is not a concern. However, charging is restricted to temperatures above 32°F (0°C). The BMS includes built-in charging freeze protection that automatically prevents charging below 32°F to protect the cells. If you store your cart outdoors in freezing temperatures, the battery will not accept a charge until it warms up this is normal and a protective feature, not a defect.
For extended winter storage, the battery's 1% per month self-discharge rate means it will retain the majority of its charge for many months without needing a maintenance charge.
Can I connect two of these batteries together for more range?
Yes. The GEN3 51.2V 105Ah Thru-Hole battery supports parallel connection of up to two units. Connecting two in parallel would double the capacity to 210Ah and significantly extend your driving range. Series connection is not supported. Contact us before attempting a dual-battery setup to confirm space availability and wiring requirements for your specific cart configuration.
Do I need to download an app to use this battery?
The battery operates without the app it is not required for daily use. The included LCD state-of-charge meter provides real-time battery level information on the cart. However, the Eco Battery mobile app (free, iOS and Android) is needed to access Bluetooth monitoring, detailed cell-level data, and to install over-the-air firmware updates. Eco Battery recommends installing the latest firmware during initial setup, so downloading the app at installation time is advisable.
